I went into the woods and found a box I unlocked the box and kissed it on its walls I ran my tongue along the third I ran my mouth Stop seducing yourself Stop kissing the air Are you a boy or girl or both or neither Whose voice answers I love the walks we take where no one speaks Except the trees Who are creatures Stop seducing yourself Stop kissing the air Claire Here is the key I wear around my neck It holds the door open Was this time better than the last I ask your hair Some call it attachment Stop seducing yourself Stop kissing the air Tell me a story Of how to live inside your body
2.
The swan is a replica of winter Beak like a thicket and guarded My most outstanding decoration I consider him He knows nothing of my weight Nor about the weight of things So I write another letter You are the city I live in But it’s impossible to meet you The name of my month and the day I float heavy and empty Barely keeping my head And there is almost no snow here My dear * I love you very much I seem to be sinking I fear each hour Even underwater The phone doesn’t ring The phone doesn’t ring You know nothing About the weight of things
3.
O yellow bird O unfortunate I took my time But the clock was impervious In the shadow of the night, you found a tongue In the tissue of the tongue, you found a node It is a key It is a line I closed my eyes and pictured you monochrome In the sculpture, I wrote to you In the sculpture, I bowed with you In the sculpture, I atoned I atone for everything I atone for it all (repeat)

Mirror Stage 01:18
Despite the shadow in the mirror, I am alone Despite the shadow in the mirror, I am alone And I could ask her when she'll leave, O And I could ask her when she'll leave, O Despite the shadow in the mirror, I am alone Despite the shadow in the mirror, I am alone And I could ask him when he'll leave, O And I could ask him when he'll leave, O Despite the shadows in the mirror, I am alone Despite the shadows in the mirror, I am alone And I could ask them when they'll leave, O And I could ask them when they'll leave, O

No romance No sexiness but A star-filled night Kneeling down before the now familiar flesh Of your deformed penis Wigging out before the unfamiliar flash Of my broken neck Fabulous muscles * Desires are inexhaustible, I vow to put an end to them Desires are inexhaustible, I vow to put an end to them

about

The Monastery was recorded on my bed in late December 2019, following a 13-year hiatus from singing. The songs are demos. The wounds fill with petals. I'm deeply grateful to the Zen Center of NYC/Zen Mountain Monastery for opening a door.
