about

recorded in September 2021 (probably in my bathroom?)
for Ian Hatcher

lyrics

You only like me when I'm there
Hands clutching my hair
I read the news this morning
It was a mirror
I awoke to the crucifix
The stringless harp

Ian says he climbed a mountain for an hour
His boyfriend wrote a novel
I revised seven pages
Light passed
Through the walls
It's Scandinavian, I said
Naked in bed

Then I cried without knowing why
Beneath the sheets, I pretended to be
Fully clothed, I was at sea
Until you came

The ceiling above me, destructively

I hit my arm three times
Once more for luck
I hit my arm four times
It wasn't hard enough
Help me
To enumerable the tears and schisms between
The fireplace
And the firewood

I punched the ceiling with my hand
In a fist, a bird
Came crashing through the hole
I bled from my knuckles
Onto the floor
I got knocked up before

You saw the evidence of my excruciating
Mind and it's crazy
How still I get
On the floor
In front of the potted plants
And pocket knives
It's night already
Do you have to go?
